Taser Death Questions - Have I Lost My Mind?

Taser Death Questions - Have I Lost My Mind?

What in the world is our society thinking? People – WAKE UP!

I am totally in awe at the thought processes of some of you. You are more worried about what might be happening to an assailant, who wants to assault you, rape you or even kill you, than focusing on what I believe may be the most important issue here - Self Preservation.

Stay Safe – Your Safety Is Priority #1. It is our right, as United States citizens, to Protect Ourselves.

You Do Have That Right – Believe It or Not!

If an assailant were coming toward me and I felt threatened for my life – It’s simple – Better Them Than ME!! I will, confidently, use my Taser® C2 and will do everything in my power to protect myself. If the assailant were to be killed (and I must say – not likely to be caused by the Taser C2– these products have been proven safe by Medical Science) here would be another case where a few people would get up in arms because a Bad Guy got killed and then want to blame it on the Taser. FOLKS – The issue to remember here is – He Shouldn’t Be Committing a Crime!

I would venture to say that if we focused on the fact that we are still allowed to bear arms (and this should always include the non-lethal type of self defense products) instead of trying to remove the rights, we would all be better off. It is imperative that we provide the means for and allow the civilian population to obtain and use (for self defense purposes only) any non-lethal safety defense product. Some states permit civilians to protect themselves and some states don’t. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? The Second Amendment says - We should ALL have that right!

Alright – I’ll get off my High Horse! I think you get the point and you now know how I feel. For myself, I personally prefer and highly recommend the Taser C2. This new taser was made available to the civilian population August 2007. It’s sleek and ergonomic design also makes this an effective and desirable self defense tool for women.

Women are becoming informed and feeling empowered to proactively take control of their own personal protection by carrying a Taser C2. Can you imagine a 95 pound woman being able to disable a 245 pound monster? Well folks, this is now possible.

Let’s discuss Responsibility. To purchase and use a Taser C2, it requires the user to get a background check performed prior to getting an activation code to enable the taser. An AFID (Anti-Felon Identification) system was created by Taser International. When the TASER C2 is deployed, these AFID tags are dispersed at the scene. The large number of AFIDS and their small size make it impractical to clean up. When police are called to investigate any TASER device use, they can find these tags and contact TASER International for a complete trace on the serial number.

The Taser C2 should be used for self defense only. When you deploy the Taser C2 in self defense, simply leave the taser on the ground and get to safety. File a Police Report and Taser International will replace the Taser C2 - Free of charge.

Folks - That is responsibility!

Remember: Stay Safe – Your Safety Is Priority #1

The Use And Effects Of Pepper Spray

The Use And Effects Of Pepper Spray

Pepper spray is one of the most popular self defense products on the market today. If you have not heard of it before, it is a spray made out of a solution that contains extracts from chili peppers. When an individual is attacked, the pepper spray can be sprayed into the attacker’s eyes, causing temporary discomfort and even blindness, allowing the person being attacked the chance to escape.

Pepper spray comes in a wide range of sizes. Individuals commonly carry small pepper sprays for personal protection. There are even tiny pepper spray containers on the market today that can be slipped into a purse or pocket. For instance, one product, known as lipstick pepper spray, looks like a little tube of lipstick. However, when you open the cap it contains a small sprayer instead of makeup. Lipstick pepper spray and other small pepper spray containers can be attached to key chains as well to keep them handy in case of an attack.

Believe it or not, you can actually purchase pepper spray that is in a ring. This type of self defense is always on your hand, so it will not matter if your purse is stolen or you cannot reach your pocket or keys. All you have to do to dispense the pepper spray is point your hand towards your attackers face and touch your ring.

If you have ever looked into purchasing pepper spray, you have likely come across a product called Mace Spray. Mace Spray is a combination self defense spray that combines pepper spray, tear gas, and a marking dye. This is a highly effective self defense product. Mace Spray is the brand name for this type of defensive chemical spray, and this company was the first to market pepper spray and other defense sprays to the general product.

To understand how these products work, it is best to look at the three agents in Mace Spray, which are found in some combination in many pepper spray products. The pepper spray in the product makes the attacker’s eyes shut instantly because it acts as a powerful irritant and inflammatory agent. It will also cause choking and coughing, which typically cause the attacker to panic. Tear gas will cause the eyes to tear, making it difficult to see. Also, this agent causes the attacker’s face to burn and can cause disorientation. The effects of these two agents disappear after thirty minutes to an hour. The UV dye will mark the attacker so that he can be identified after the attack.

No matter how well the Mace Spray or pepper spray product that you have purchased works, if you do not know how to use it, it will not be of any use to you. Almost all of these products work in a similar fashion. To use the product, you must remain calm when you are attacked. Remember, you are in control because you have a way to defend yourself. The sprayer must be held upright. Then, you need to direct the spray at your attacker’s face. Spray for around five to six seconds. This should give enough of the irritant to the attacker to keep him immobilized for a while. Immediately run away and seek help.

It may help to practice using the pepper spray. However, you will not want to practice on a real person, as the effects of the spray are quite irritating. Consider practicing on a target that would be about face height. It is essential that you know where the trigger is on your pepper spray. It is also essential that you know how to get it out of your purse or pocket quickly before the attacker has a chance to immobilize your hands.

Buy your Mace Spray to take with you when you are out and about. Maybe you would prefer to put a lipstick pepper spray in purse. Ken Potter is the founder and owner of Protect Your Home and Family and Eyes Undetected. Please visit www.ProtectYourHomeandFamily.com and www.EyesUndetected.com where you can buy self defense products and security cameras to protect your home and family.
Self Defense Products Make Your Life Safer

Safety is not something to be taken for granted and there are those of us who do feel that some of the measures we take in our lives are simply enough. The truth is that we can always expand our current means of protection because at anytime someone can breach our barriers to make us vulnerable. This is why it is good to keep a variety of self defense products at hand in case a time arises that we must utilize them to ensure our safety.

What is a self defense product?

A self defense product is any product that you can use when defending your life. The situations in which you may have to defend yourself can vary from a mugging to an actual violent attack by a stranger or someone you know. These violations can occur in your home or in a public place, so you need to be prepared to ensure your safety to the highest degree. Now you might be thinking, “Nothing like that ever happens to me, so why do I need to buy things to protect myself?” Each person that becomes victim to a violent crime and survives to tell about it said the same exact thing at one time or another. By the time they actually buy self defense products, some kind of crime has already been committed against them. Now it isn’t their fault that the crime occurred, but it is the fact that awareness of such crimes is not made well-known, therefore self defense products never have a place in their home until after something happens.Yes, some may say that they are fine because they have the best and sharpest cutlery set that money can buy, so if someone breaks into their home they will just slice and dice them and make the criminal regret they ever broke into their house. A sad truth is that when someone is actually presented with a situation in which they have to defend themselves, they may find it difficult to initiate such force.

Then what are these products?

So if you’re not the type to stab or shoot someone, there are much safer methods to use in self defense. You can subdue your attacker for periods of time no matter what environment you are in such as your home, in the woods, or on the street. And attackers don’t necessarily have to be people, but they can be animals, too (although some people seem to take on that persona). These products can be so small you can carry them in your purse or pocket such as tasers, stun guns, pepper spray, mace pepper guns, a personal alarm, kubotans for those who are weapon savvy, bear repellant for the nature lover, and dog repellant for those stray dogs who like to get nippy once in a while. As you can see, there are items that are small enough to fit in a pocket, attach to a keychain, or fit in a purse. Just be sure that the item of your choice is not illegal in your state or city.

Anything else?

As you can see, the best thing to do is be prepared. Putting self defense products such as surveillance cameras on your home and making sure you don’t leave the house without some sort of self defense product in your pocket or purse means you are increasing your safety exponentially. You just never know when you are going to be approached by a crazy person who wants to hurt you for the sake of hurting someone or wants to rob you, so always be prepared.

Self Defense - The Most Critical Five Seconds of Your Life

That is what the time is called when you are faced with a life or death situation from a lowly street punk to an armed assailant. Whether it is a parking lot or alley confrontation or a home invasion those first few seconds after the confrontation starts are absolutely critical and largely determine the outcome.

"What happens in the next 5 seconds will determine who walks away, him or you. There is no time to breathe, no time to think, only time to take immediate decisive action in what would likely save your life. There must be no hesitation in what you do next."

The latest stats show a violent crime occurs every 19 seconds and an assault every 29 seconds. It is a sad commentary yet an old hard fact.

Tim Larkin, a Naval Special Operations Intelligence Officer and Master Close Combat Instructor who has trained more than 5,430 military, law enforcement and civilian clients in TFT (target focus training) has put together an awesome collection 17 hours of training on DVD.

"These individuals face dangerous and life threatening danger on a daily basis. They demand methods and principles that work every time, for every one of their guys, regardless of the threat... and their training often must be completed with only a few days of preparation. They can NOT afford to waste time with a program that doesn't work.

They need a program that is simple, easy to learn, and most importantly of all it works when it is time to lay it on the line."

The training is a PRINCIPLES based program that works across all types of violence regardless of age, size, speed, strength, sex or athletic ability. It is guaranteed to work every time regardless of the situation.

The training is based on information taught at three live sessions of TFT that cost nearly $1500 each. It covers everything you need to know to defend yourself from hand to hand combat to hand to weapon fighting when you are unarmed. It covers striking, targeting, leverage and how to handle multiple attackers and much more.

The biggest thing for most people in an unknown situation is the element of fear. TFT shows you how to act in spite of your natural fears. The program is based, not on athletic ability, but on basic motor skills that everyone has.

Mr. Larkin simplifies TFT to a point where you learn quickly right from the DVD without even practicing. The best part is you can review everything and practice everything from the comfort of your own living room over and over.

Don't leave the results to chance. Be Prepared. Get trained today.

Self Defense and Self Defense Products - How Do You Decide?

With all of the various types of Self Defense Products on
the market today, how do you determine which product it right for YOU and for
what situation? I can honestly answer
this one!! It is nothing but a personal
choice. You must have some basic
knowledge of the product you are thinking about purchasing. Some products are very simple to use (such as
pepper spray and electronic whistles) and others can sometimes be just a little
more intimidating to use (such as kubotans, stun guns or telescopic stun
batons).

RegardIess of what self defense product you choose, you
should practice and become familiar with the self defense weapon. The reason I call it a weapon is because you
will be using it as one. You MUST be
confident so when the need arises you react instinctively and with FORCE. You are being attacked and you DO have the
right to protect yourself and your family!!

Do as much as you can to avoid a confrontation -
"anticipation and avoidance" are the key words. If you get caught up
in a situation, try to talk to an aggressor without provoking them. Practice
relaxation, as appearing fearful or stressed can actually provoke an attack.
Remember that body language is important in aggressive situations, so maintain
a comfortable distance between you and the aggressor.

This technique is not always successful and that is when you
MUST to be ready to ACT.

Steady yourself if danger threatens. Panic can disable you,
so again it’s useful to learn how to keep control in a difficult situation. And
if you must fight back, adopt what police term the "bash and dash"
approach. Primary targets are the eyes, nose, mouth, ears, throat, groin, knees
or shins; choose whichever is easiest to get to.

If held from behind don't struggle forward, you'll only
exhaust yourself. Instead throw yourself backwards to surprise your attacker or
stomp on the lower leg or foot.

You have the right to defend yourself with reasonable force
and this includes using items you have with you such as an umbrella, bag,
briefcase or keys. However, don't carry or use anything that the law would
regard as an offensive weapon. Once you've achieved your primary aim of
stunning or surprising your attacker, get away as fast as you can. If you manage
to overcome them don't attack again, you could be putting yourself in more
danger or you could end up being charged with assault.

I will repeat an earlier statement: Do as much as you can to avoid a
confrontation - "anticipation and avoidance". If and when this is not possible, PROTECT
YOURSELF!!!
Top 7 Safety Tips For Women

Top 7 Safety Tips for Women

Most campuses have guards or some other means of on campus security. Unfortunately, almost all college campuses have some level of crime including assaults on female students. For women, there are extra precautions that can be taken to stay safe and avoid dangerous situations. You can generally get crime statistics for your school on the Internet or through the security office. Here are some tips to keep in mind when making new friends, making moves and making the grade.

1. Travel in Pairs
Most college campuses are open to the public. This means anyone can wander their way onto campus without being questioned. Whether your school is in a major city or it makes up half the population of the city, make it a point to travel with at least one other person, specifically at night. This is a good practice when walking or driving to new places. Also keep an eye out for emergency call boxes on campus. These boxes will link you directly to security should you need help.

2. Carry ID
Even if you are just running to the cafeteria, gym, or down to the computer lab, always carry identification. If you fall down the stairs, injure yourself on exercise equipment or have an allergic reaction to food you may not be in a position to identify yourself. Having a picture ID on you will quickly let people know who you are after an accident. Knowing who you are puts them a step closer to finding your medical history and reaching out to your loved ones, if needed, for assistance.

3. Don't Take Drinks From Strangers
At house and club parties, be leery of taking drinks from people you don't know. There are certain drugs that people, specifically men, have been caught slipping into drinks. These drugs, sometimes called roofies, might alter your state of mind, or worse, incapacitate you! At a house party, where the liquor is out for public consumption, make your own drinks or watch them being made by a friend in a clean cup. If someone buys you a cocktail at a club or bar, get the bartender to hand the drink directly to you.

4. Meet New Study Buddies in Public
Ladies, if you've just met someone with whom you plan to study, meet them in the library or a study lounge for the first session. Get to know a study partner a little better before traveling out to their home or inviting them to your dorm room. This is most important when considering a new male study partner.

5. Take a Self Defense Course
Many colleges and universities have a self defense course offered through the school health center or gymnasium. If you don't have this option on campus see if there is one offered in the local community. You can also find books or sites on the Internet that provide tips on self defense moves and tactics. Books and courses will also cover the use of self defense products, such as pepper spray.

6. Always Lock Your Door
When driving and in the dorm room keep your doors locked. Campus grounds and dormitories are not predator proof. When your door is open, it is easy for a stranger to gain entry. This could lead to carjacking or theft. Even when going down the hall to shower, lock your door and take your key. The only time you might feel comfortable leaving your door unlocked is if your roommate or a friend is going to stay in the room. This practice will protect both you and the valuable items in your room.

7. Tell Someone Your Plans
Always let a family member or good friend on campus know your plans. When you are going away with friends for a weekend make sure someone knows, at a minimum, where you are headed and when you plan to return. During the week if you are going to be out at the computer lab or studying, leave a note or phone message for your roommate if they will be looking for you to show up at a certain time.

Protecting Your Child

It has been said that children are our most valuable resource. Therefore, it is absolutely necessary that we take positive measures to insure their safety and prevent them from becoming victims of crime.

Parents...

Never leave children alone, not at home, in a vehicle, at play, or anywhere.

Define what a STRANGER is. Let your kids know that just because they see someone everyday (eg., mailman, paperboy, neighbor, etc.), it does not mean these people are not strangers.

Teach your children their full name, your name, full address, and phone number, including area codes.

Teach them how to use a phone.

Teach your children the "What if...?" Game, making up different dangerous situations that they might encounter and helping them play out what they would do in that situation.

Take the time to talk to your children and be alert to any noticeable changes in their behavior or attitude toward an adult or teenager. It may be a sign of sexual abuse.

Set up procedures with your child's school or day care center as to whom the child will be released to other than yourself, and what notification procedure they are to follow if the child does not show up on time.

Teach your children that their body is private and no one has the right to touch them in a way that makes them feel uncomfortable. If anyone touches them in a wrong way they should say, "No, get away!", and then tell someone they trust.

Self Defense Tips

If you get caught up in a situation, try to talk to an aggressor without provoking them. Practice relaxation, as appearing fearful or stressed can actually provoke an attack. Remember that body language is important in aggressive situations, so maintain a comfortable distance between you and the aggressor.

Use a gas or electronic attack alarm, as these give out a short piercing sound and will temporarily disorient an attacker, giving you enough time to escape. Carry it where you can get to it quickly - don't leave it buried at the bottom of your bag. If you don't have an alarm, just make a noise yourself by screaming as loud as you can, or shouting "call the police". If you're loud enough, this can be just as effective as a personal alarm.

Campus Safety Tips

CAMPUS SAFETY TIPS

Street crime is on the increase in most large U.S cities. It's also growing on campuses and in small communities. Schools and colleges that receive public funding are required to post the crime statistics at their campus. No college is immune to crime. In fact many crimes are more common on college campuses than off. So wherever you are, keep your self and friends safe with an awareness of your surroundings. These campus safety tips will help you.
•	When leaving your dorm or apartment, make sure that all doors and windows are locked - including the main building entry and exits.
•	Keep an eye out for anyone who is loitering or hanging out around your home, campus, after school work or your car. College students are much more likely to be stalked.
•	Check out around your car as you walk up to it. If there is a van parked on one side of your car get in on the other side.
•	One campus had a series of attacks where the attacker would hide under vehicles and then slash the victim's Achilles tendon with a knife. The victim was unable to run away. Check under the other cars as you walk up to your car.
•	Don't carry large sums of money.
•	If possible, travel with another person. This is especially true after dark.
•	Carry a personal alarm that will draw attention in an emergency and scare away an attacker.
•	When carrying a purse or wallets, only place three or four one dollar bills placed inside. Credit cards, currency, driver's license, and keys should be carried in a coat pocket or concealed, possibly in an inside zipped pocket. Other possible options include special security belts and stash pouches are available for this purpose.
•	At night, travel on well-lighted and well-traveled streets. Avoid unlighted areas. Walk in the middle of the sidewalk and never loiter in deserted areas.
•	Walk on the side of the street nearest to oncoming traffic. If accosted by someone in a car, run in the direction opposite of the way the car is headed.
•	Be aware of people who approach asking for directions or the time of day; keep a polite but safe distance. One ploy that to be wary of is someone asking to use your cell phone to make an emergency call, but there doesn't seem to be any emergency at hand.
•	Men should consider carrying a second wallet containing a few one dollar bills and old expired credit cards, which are normally destroyed or discarded. If you are mugged, give the suspect the second wallet and take a mental note of a good physical description of the suspect.
•	If you feel someone is following you, go to the nearest occupied residence or building and ask for assistance.
•	If you are confronted with a dangerous situation, cry out for assistance. Yelling "FIRE! FIRE!" instead of "HELP!" will generally bring faster attention. WARNING: Just don't do this in a crowded movie theater, night club or other area where it might cause panic.
•	When you get home, particularly after dark, don't hang around at the entrance of your residence. Make a quick check for mail or newspapers, and go in right away. If you feel something is out of place, don't go in, go to a friend or neighbor's house and call for police assistance.
•	A friend of a friend came home to find a moving van in her driveway being loaded up with her stuff. She just went right by and went to a friend's house down the street where she called the police. The police quickly came and busted the bad guys. They didn't even see it coming.

Street Sense

Wherever you are on the street, in an office building or shopping mall, driving, waiting for a bus or cab, stay alert and tuned in to your surroundings. Trust your instincts. If something or someone makes you uncomfortable, avoid the person or leave. Know the neighborhoods where you live and work. Check out the locations of police and fire stations, public telephones, hospitals, and restaurants, or stores that are open late.

On Foot-Day or Night

Stick to well-lighted, well-traveled streets. Avoid shortcuts through wooded areas, parking lots, or alleys.
Don't flash money or other tempting targets like jewelry or clothing.
Carry a purse close to your body, not dangling by the straps. Put a wallet in an inside coat or front pants pocket, not a back pocket. Carry only what is necessary, and try not to keep currency and credit cards all in one place.
Don't wear shoes or clothing that restrict your movements.
Have your car or house key in hand before you reach the door.
Try to use automated teller machines in the daytime. Have your card in hand and don't approach the machine if you're uneasy about people nearby. Better yet, only use the ATM machines inside of grocery store, malls, or gas stations.
If you think someone is following you, switch direction or cross the street. Walk toward an open store, restaurant, or lighted house. If someone harasses you, don't be embarrassed. Loudly say, "Leave me alone! Someone call the police! Get away!"

Vehicle Safety

Keep your car in good running condition. Make sure there's enough gas to get where you're going and back.
Always roll up the windows and lock car doors, even if you're coming right back. Check inside and out before getting in.
Avoid parking in isolated areas. Be especially alert in lots and underground parking garages.
If you think someone is following you, don't head home. Drive to the nearest police or fire station, gas station, or other open business to get help.
If someone tries to rob you:
Don’t resist. Give up your property. Don't risk your life.
Report the crime to the police. Try to describe the attacker accurately. Your actions can help prevent others from being victims.

Take a Stand!
Make your neighborhood and working place safer by reporting broken street lights, cleaning up parks and vacant lots, and lobbying local government for better lighting in public places.
Initiate a block watch program in your neighborhood by contacting your local crime prevention unit.

CarJacking Preventative Measures

Carjacking of parked vehicles depends on the car owner being inattentive to their surroundings. Carjackers, like street robbers, prefer the element of surprise. Most victims say they never saw the carjacker until they appeared at their car door. To reduce your risk of being carjacked, we have listed some common sense steps below:
* Always park in well-lighted areas, if you plan to arrive/leave after dark.
* Don't park in isolated or visually obstructed areas near walls or heavy foliage.
* Use valet parking or an attended garage, if you're a woman driving alone.
* As you walk to your car, be alert to suspicious persons sitting in cars.
* Ask for a security escort, if you are alone at a shopping center.
* Watch out for young males loitering in the area (handing out flyers, etc.) .
* If someone tries to approach, change direction or run to a busy store.
* Follow your instincts, if they tell you to walk/run away to a busy place.
* As you approach your vehicle, look under, around, and inside your car.
* If safe, open the door, enter quickly, and lock the doors.
* Don't be a target by turning your back while loading packages into the car.
* Make it your habit to always start your car and drive away immediately.
* Teach and practice with your children to enter and exit the car quickly.
* In the city, always drive with your car doors locked and windows rolled up.
* When stopped in traffic, leave room to maneuver and escape, if necessary.
* If you are bumped in traffic, by young males, be suspicious of the accident. Wave to follow, and drive to a gas station or busy place before getting out.
* If you are ever confronted by an armed carjacker, don't resist.
* Give up your keys or money, if demanded, without resistance.
* Don't argue, fight or chase the robber. You can be seriously injured.
* Never agree to be kidnapped. Drop the cars keys and run and scream for help.
* If you are forced to drive, consider crashing your car near a busy intersection so bystanders can come to your aid and call the police.
* Call the police immediately to report the crime and provide detailed information.

I believe the following products would be perfect in this situation:
* Pepper Pager - wear it as a pager and when you feel like you're in an uncomfortable situation, put it in fire mode and don't be afraid to use it when necessary.
* Stun Alarm Flashlight - I personally keep one in my car at all times by my side. It also has an ear piercing siren in addition to being a flashlight and stun gun.
